World Environment Day encourages worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. Since it began in 1974, it has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries.
The world needs to act now.
The theme for 2019 is “air pollution”— a call to action to combat one of the greatest environmental challenges of our time. Nine out of 10 people worldwide breathe polluted air. Air pollution also harms our natural
environment, decreasing the oxygen supply in our oceans, making it harder for plants to grow and contributing to climate change. But the good news is that air pollution is preventable. Solutions are known and can be implemented.
There are 3 things you can do right now to make a difference: Plant trees, Clean up rubbish and find ways to commute without polluting.
